And I had a final conversation about parkrun…after he said there were no more treatment options
Yes with my oncologist, who has agreed to do parkrun, and I got a handshake so it has to be done. Shout out to my local 5kyourway to make sure this happens and I hope my daughter can do it to at Beverley Westwood Parkrun!!
Can’t believe i did it, but really people asking me all sorts of questions and of course, I had never considered these things before as my focus was on my future not on death, and Parkrun was my focus nothing else.
Think it’s been written into my final hospital notes!!
Parkrun has transformed and changed my life and yes my oncologist has agreed to do one, did get a handshake✔️
Funny I remember having my radiotherapy and of course parkrun was the conversation and helped me with the mask fitting and the treatments, with me visualising my own parkrun to complete the treatments.
It helped me so much
Thank you to everyone at Beverley Westwood parkrun, you all have helped me so much
Thank you to 5kyourway and moveagainstcancer and my fellow ambassadors for making this happen with Beverley 5kyour way
I never imagined I would be a runner but I bloody well did it and became one, never quite managed to run all the way at Beverley, that hill, but I have run all the way at Humber bridge and all the other flat ones I did as a tourist and got some great PB’s including hull where I managed a sub 33! Think 32.48! But it is 5kYOURWAY but I wanted to run, I wanted to be the best I could be and I achieved that
I ran on New Year’s Day in 2023 and I ran on Christmas Day last year in York, which was absolutely fantastic
I became a runner because of cancer! And I hope I have inspired many other people to do it too.
I set up a walk with me group with the amazing charity OVACOME and here we support each other to walk, this was an idea, I had whilst walking on my own, thinking how could we as woman with ovarian cancer support each other to walk and never feel alone.
We have a fabulous group with fun challenges and importantly support each other to walk and do what we can xx
thank you ladies you have been amazing

Hi Allyson
I think you are bloody great. Until i met you i thought i was the persin who loved the park run the most.
I wiill always remember our Saturday morning tactical conversations on how we would discuss any advantage we could gain in order to acheive another PB. It even worked some weeks.
You willl always be in my thoughts on a Saturday morning.
Lots of Love
Phil
